WE use a sash system at The KaLu Akademy for curriculum progression as opposed to standardized grades (K-12). The reasoning is simple: we want children to move at their own pace but with the eventual reaching of their own perfection and greatness their focal point.
Are grade progressions beneficial to the overall development of our children?

No they aren't. At this point I have lost count of the times I've had to push my child to grasp concepts that she wasn't ready for simply because schools legally can't afford to let children learn at their own pace. So I push her to make sure she keeps up and it works but it has stolen the joy of learning which really should be a joyous process.
